Highgate Cemetery - Telling Tales
FOHC Experience

Highgate Cemetery opened as a private cemetery in 1839, but by the 1970's, due to lack of funds, it was in a sorry state. In 1975 the Friends of Highgate Cemetery was founded to rescue the cemetery and they continue to manage it today. Though FOHC has achieved remarkable things over the years, controversy has dogged it, culminating in the events of April/May 2009, which can be followed on www.hamhigh.co.uk

You are one of the people who helped to save the cemetery back in the 70's, or you know someone who was. You've been an active member of FOHC, or volunteer, in the past. Let us have your stories about what it was really like.

Was the Bram Stoker Society really banned from the cemetery, because its members liked to visit dressed as Dracula? Did a certain public figure who offered help really turn out to be a body snatcher? You do voluntary work in the cemetery today?

Let us have your stories as to what it's like to be a part of one of the most famous cemeteries in the world.
